Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, I graduated from Stanford University and settled down in nearby Menlo Park. Over the years, I have also lived and traveled world-wide.

My whole adult life, I have been eliciting stories and helping people find their voices. In middle school classrooms, I taught students to express their stories skillfully in writing. In the context of developing arts curriculum, I helped students understand universal stories told through dance, music, and visual arts, and relate those stories to their own. In narrative history projects, I listen to a variety of adults share their own personal stories, and then I write the narratives they have told.

I enjoy white-water rafting, hiking, and hosting dinners for friends and family. My wonderful daughter is now grown, and I enjoy spending time with my parents, who live nearby.
